Develop A Bigger Online Brand Through These Web Marketing Ideas!

Mistakes Are Costing You! Learn To Stop?Making ALL 189 Of Them!

Struggling With WordPress? 100+ Step-By-Step Videos Now Available!

Posted by Administrator on Dec 28, 2012 in Uncategorized | Comments Off

People who have failed in previous attempts at Online marketing may not believe that it is even possible to actually make money online. Even if you have failed before, it is well worth trying again. If you haven?t succeeded yet, then the odds are good that you?ve never read information helpful and accurate enough.

Always use clear, high quality pictures that show off the products your site is selling. Customers are more likely to buy from you if they can see a clear example of what they?re ordering. Include a ?customer image? section on your website. Another effective use of photography is to show how customers changed as a result of using your product.

Create social networks on Facebook or Twitter to target a market. Avoid the possibility of being sued for harassment by refraining from sending unwanted marketing messages through social networking sites.

TIP! In the eyes of your customer, their experience of your business website is akin to visiting a retail showroom. Keep track of which banners and links get the most clicks and test your site regularly to make sure everything is working fine.

Always utilize signatures when you email others, regardless of the recipient?s identity. This is just like handing out business cards. You want as many people to see your signature as possible. By including your signature, you offer everyone you email a link to your business.

A well designed and thought out website is an essential part of any Internet marketing project. You can do this by using different color schemes and other design techniques. Naturally, visitors stay longer on websites that they find attractive, interesting and useful.

It is a good idea to keep contact information for your customers. Consider making it a setting on your webpage that in order for someone to purchase something, they have to use their email address or consider adding a sign- up box. This information can be used to contact customers with information about your business or to ask them for feedback.

TIP! An effective way to draw more traffic to your site is by creating a blog. The key is to ensure that you use timely, relevant, updated content.

You can gather information from viewers about why they chose to not make a purchase by including a form on the bottom of your ad. There are many different reasons they might not have made a purchase, including not liking your product, level of security or guarantee.

Try using polls on your website to see how your readers feel about your content. This can give you great ideas for new content, and help you populate your site with information your readers really want.

Viral videos and media can help improve the success of your website. It is also a great idea to include a link that will send viewers to your website inside your video?s description. You can significantly increase your website traffic by using this strategy.

TIP! Flashy, dazzling websites might be a good idea in theory and might even attract some people, but the more distracting your site is, the harder it will be to keep visitors for the long haul. Instead of whiz-bang tricks, concentrate your effort on honing your message.

Try different headlines and content and watch to see what is working and what should be changed. Once you?ve found a tone that works and puts your website in a positive light, stay with that tone and you will have a cohesive image. It pays to listen to your customer?s ideas.

Design your website to inspire trust and confidence. Let your customers know not to worry about anything when they?re on your site. You can do this by placing a privacy policy on the top right part of the page. Customers are more likely to take part in online purchasing transactions if they feel that their details are protected. Ensure that your customers are being protected from identity theft when they are using your services.

Just like any other business venture, start out small when you are putting together your website. If your site has a million indexed pages, search engines are more likely to pass it by in favor of sites with a few thousand pages.

TIP! Make sure to take advantage of social media to grow your customer base. Develop a Facebook page to give your customers a place to enter their feedback.

Sell your product using positive motivation. Inform your customers about the advantages that your products can offer them. Being positive and encouraging helps to encourage your clients.

To increase sales consider offering specials on the check-out page of your website. You can add discounted prices for grouped items. This is an excellent choice for getting rid of excess inventory and boosting sales. It also makes the customer think they are getting a great deal.

Use your imagination to create fun ways to maximize website visits. Offer certain e-books or products for steep discounts for one or two days. When people come to your site to buy the e-book they are likely to take a look around and see what else you have to offer. Many times these visitors don?t just leave with the e-book, but with other products you sell.

TIP! Load your site with information that is full and new. You will attract search engines better by packing your site with loads of rich content.

A good website is essential to success in the realm of Internet promotion. Be sure to test your website on a regular basis and eliminate bad links, broken graphics or glitches that might show up. If the people visiting your site cannot find their way through your site, they are not going to make any purchases.

The information above comes straight from the horse?s mouth, those who have done it and succeeded. There is no hard and fast formula that leads to success. It will take work and dedication on your part. However, with the right motivation, you can profit from this information.

New class of malaria drugs using essential calcium enzyme developed

Dec. 27, 2012 ? Calpain, a calcium-regulated enzyme, is essential to a host of cellular processes, but can cause severe problems in its overactivated state. It has been implicated as a factor in muscular dystrophy, AIDS, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and cancer. As such, finding and exploiting calpain inhibitors is an important area of research.

A team from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the University of California at San Francisco and the Department of Biochemistry and Protein Function Discovery at Queen's University, has developed a unique approach to calpain inhibition by mimicking a natural reaction with a synthesized molecule. The work was published in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

One of calpain's less beneficial functions is that it eases the ability for cellular invaders such as the Plasmodium falciparum parasite, which is responsible for malaria, to exit their hosts and infect other cells. It is this property that caught the attention of Doron Greenbaum, PhD, assistant professor in of Pharmacology, whose laboratory studies how malaria spreads.

"We have an interest in this protein because it's important for Plasmodium development," he explains. "We initially found that calpain played a role in parasites being able to get out of their host cell, so we became interested in inhibitor development for human calpains."

Greenbaum and his collaborators examined the crystal structure of calpastatin, a natural calpain inhibitor, for clues. "We decided to take a different tack on inhibitor development, which has traditionally been designing small peptide-like inhibitors that fit across an enzyme's active site," Greenbaum says. Studying the configuration of how calpastatin bound to the active site of the calpain complex, "we found that there was a small alpha-helix that fit into the active site of the calpain enzyme."

Researchers have never before used an alpha-helix structure to inhibit a protease. "Traditionally people thought that alpha-helices normally make horrible inhibitors because it was thought that proteases don't like to bind to them preferring to bind motifs called a beta-sheet," Greenbaum notes. The research team created a peptide with an alpha-helical shape that would fit into the active site of the calpain protease.

The team set out to find a way to stabilize the helix by modifying it with a cross-linking peptide. They screened twenty-four commercially available crosslinkers, identifying five that succeeded in stabilizing the helix. They selected one in particular -- dibromo-m-xylene c15 -- and used it to mimic a protein-protein interaction between calpain and calpastatin. By binding to the active site and thus blocking it, the synthesized molecule inhibits the calpain enzyme from binding with other molecules that permit it to wreak its damaging effects.

"It's the first example of an alpha-helical inhibitor of any protease," Greenbaum says. "Previously no one's ever tried using an alpha-helical motif. It opens up a new way of inhibiting proteases." Aside from being a good inhibitor, the stabilized alpha-helical molecule is also highly specific for calpains, while ignoring other, similar-shaped proteases, thus hopefully downplaying potential side effects if used in humans.

Greenbaum and his collaborators are building upon this initial success to expand the basic concept to a wide range of protease molecules. "The next step is to show how this concept can be generalized to multiple classes of proteases, many of which are pharmaceutically of great interest," he explains. "It's not a single-hit wonder."

The extension of the technique to stabilize the alpha-helix shape in enzymes to other proteins could eventually lead to practical drug therapies for a wide range of diseases, predict the researchers.

North Central Oregon Recreation Report from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife

FISHING

?

Weekend fishing opportunities:

?

  • Summer steelhead fishing is still available on the lower Deschutes. Fish are now well dispersed from the mouth upstream to the Warm Springs area.
  • Winter fishing can be good on several local reservoirs, as long as road conditions allow access ? check out Antelope Flat Reservoir, Haystack Reservoir and Ochoco Reservoir.
  • There are many great year-round fisheries for the fly angler, including the Metolius, Fall and Crooked and Deschutes rivers. Snow and cold temperatures can mean quiet, peaceful fishing. And hypothermia, so be prepared for winter conditions.

?

Buy hunting/fishing licenses now

Hunters and anglers are reminded to purchase 2013 hunting and fishing licenses before venturing into the field in the new year. They can be purchased on the ODFW website, at ODFW license agents and at ODFW offices that sell ODFW documents. Fees are not increasing in 2013. For more information, visit ODFW?s licenses and regulations page.

CENTRAL ZONE HUNTING

?

OPEN: UPLAND BIRD, WATERFOWL (see regs), COUGAR

?

REPORT HUNTS EVEN IF YOU WEREN?T SUCCESSFUL!

?

You need to complete a hunter harvest survey for each deer, elk, pronghorn, cougar, bear and turkey tag purchased?even if you weren?t successful or didn?t go hunting. Report online at www.reportmyhunt.com (or at ODFW?s website under Hunting) or call 1-866-947-6339. Hunters that fail to report 2012 deer and elk tags by the deadline (Jan. 31, 2013 for most hunts) will be fined $25 when they purchase a 2014 hunting license.

?

This penalty was put in place because after several years of ?mandatory? reporting with no penalty, just 41 percent of tags were reported on time last year. The information provided is critical for setting tag numbers and seasons?information that?s become more and more difficult to get through traditional phone surveys because hunters have moved, screened their calls, or don?t provide phone numbers.

Wolves and coyotes can look alike
Most wolves in the state today are in northeast Oregon but a few have dispersed further west and south. Wolves are protected by state and/or federal law and it is unlawful to shoot them. Coyote hunters need to take extra care to identify their target as wolves can look like coyotes, especially wolf pups in the mid-summer and fall. ODFW appreciates hunters? assistance to establish wolves? presence in Oregon; please report any wolf sightings or wolf sign to ODFW using the online reporting system.

Hunter orange required for youth

Don?t forget: hunters age 17 and under must wear a fluorescent orange upper garment OR hat when hunting upland game birds (except turkey) and game mammals (deer, elk, bear, cougar, pronghorn, goat, sheep, Western gray squirrel) with a firearm.

?

PRINEVILLE/OCHOCO WILDLIFE DISTRICT

?

Cougar ? Present throughout the Maury, Ochoco, and Grizzly units but are more likely near deer and elk herds. The Maury and Ochoco units are recommended because of their greater amounts of accessible public land. Remember cougars must be checked in at an ODFW office within 10 days of harvest. Please consult the synopsis for all required parts and be sure to call first to make an appointment.

?

Waterfowl, Valley Quail and Chukar - Seasons are open. Hunters are encouraged to check likely habitat areas on the Crooked River National Grasslands and the breaks of the John Day River system for opportunities. Waterfowl hunters will find opportunities limited as most birds in this area are closely associated with private lands where access may be difficult.

?

THE DALLES WILDLIFE DISTRICT

?

Cougar ? Hunters wishing to pursue cougar will find best success near areas of deer and elk concentrations and near recent cougar kills and calling. With periodic snow events, following fresh tracks can improve chances of locating a cougar. Successful hunters, remember you must check in cougar (hide and skull) and bear skull at an ODFW office within 10 days of harvest and bring them in unfrozen. It?s also a good idea to prop their mouths open with a stick after harvest for easier tissue sampling, teeth collection and tagging. See regulations for details.

?

Upland Bird ? Upland bird season is in full swing, and hunters can find some public access within the Deschutes and John rivers for chukar. Most of the pheasant and quail hunting in the district is on private lands, and permission is necessary. ODFW does facilitate some access through the Upland Cooperative Access Program. More information on this program can be attained on the department website, or by contacting the district at 541-296-4628.

?

Waterfowl ? Waterfowl are just starting to show up in the area. Access points are limited along the Columbia River; hunters must ensure that they are outside of any city limits or state parks boundaries. Good opportunities for Canada Geese exist throughout Sherman and southern Wasco counties on private lands.

?

WHITE RIVER WILDLIFE AREA

?

Vehicle Access: Most gates through the Wildlife Area closed Dec. 1 and will remain closed until April 1, 2013. As of January 1, 2013 new rules take effect that prohibits all recreational ATV use on the Wildlife Area, also camping will be only allowed in designated camping areas.

?

As of January 1, 2013 you will need a parking permit to use/park on the White River Wildlife Area along with other ODFW wildlife areas. visit ODFW?s Web site.?? ?

?

Cougar ? Open all year or until zone mortality quotas have been met. Look for areas that have recent deer and elk activity. Focus your efforts along migration routes, and along rim rocks and canyons. Look for fresh tracks or kills to increase success. Deer are down on the Wildlife Area for the winter so it is a good area to look for cougars.

?

Coyote ? Hunters should be looking in open areas along the eastern perimeter of the wildlife area. Open fields can provide good calling opportunities on the area.

?

Upland bird ? Chukar and Hungarian partridge can be found scattered throughout the area. Look on open ridges and rock out croppings. Valley quail can be found throughout the area along the creeks and ponds and there is a small population of Mountain quail on the area also but can be difficult to find.???

?

Waterfowl ? Waterfowl can be found using the area on ponds and occasionally in some of the freshly planted fields. Most of the waterfowl are on private lands.

?

?

CENTRAL ZONE VIEWING

?

Jefferson and Crook Counties

?

Prineville Area

?

Winter conditions are present and recreational users and their pets should dress and come equipped for snow, ice, and potentially dangerous driving conditions.

?

The Prineville Reservoir Wildlife Management Area (WMA) offers winter wildlife viewing opportunities. With recent frigid winter temperatures many ducks, geese, and other waterfowl have moved to more temperate areas. The WMA and the north side access road are now closed to motorized access. Walk in or bike access is allowed and provides vantage points to view migrating birds and resident wildlife.

?

Waterfowl hunters and trappers may also be using the area and all users are encouraged to wear bright hunter orange clothing. Most trappers avoid using the more traveled areas along the north shore, but could be using remote upland areas and the south shoreline which is difficult to access without a boat or canoe. Dog owners should use care when using remote uplands or the south shore. A map of the area is available at the ODFW?s Prineville Office and the Oregon State Park office located at the Prineville Reservoir State Park, or for more information, visit ODFW?s Web site. 12/18/12.

?

Deschutes County

?

Winter is an excellent time to view raptors around Deschutes County. Red-tailed hawks are one of the most numerous birds of prey and commonly seen on fence and power poles scanning meadows, sagebrush shrub steppe, and other open areas.

?

Travel conditions and accessibility to high mountain lakes is tentative and drivers should check conditions before heading out, but visitors to lakes such as Wickiup and Crane Prairie are likely to see common loons, Canada geese, American widgeon, green-winged teal, bufflehead, ring-necked ducks, northern shovelers, lesser scaup, common and Barrow?s goldeneye, multiple gull species, and various grebes including horned, eared, western, and Clark?s. In addition to the water birds, you can expect to see bald eagles, hermit thrushes, Williamson?s, hairy and black-backed woodpeckers, gray jay, northern flicker, mountain chickadee, red-breasted nuthatch, red crossbill, and many other species.

?

Other birding destinations to consider include Tumalo Reservoir (west of Highway 20 between Sister and Bend), Pelton Dam wildlife overlook and Lake Simstustus (Deschutes River northwest of Madras), and Hatfield Lakes (just north of the Bend airport).

?

Black-tailed jackrabbits can be seen in many areas where sagebrush abounds, and squirrels can still be observed conducting their winter activities on national forest and BLM lands, but expect to see less activity at higher elevations. Reptiles are now sequestered in underground winter quarters that protect them from freezing conditions. And although amphibians can be active at colder temperatures, they will be much harder to find until next spring. We?ll know spring is back when the chirrups of tree frogs can heard once again. 12/10/12

?

Wasco and Sherman counties

?

The Lower Deschutes River can provide ample wildlife viewing opportunities. California Bighorn Sheep are frequently observed in the canyon and can provide fantastic viewing this time of year. The best spot to view sheep is from the BLM access road just downstream and across the river from Sherar?s Falls (along Hwy 216). Other wildlife that may be seen along the river include the red-tailed hawk, American kestrel, Osprey, Golden and Bald eagles. Waterfowl are commonly observed on the river, and visitors can usually see many different songbirds and upland game birds that also call the canyon home. 12/21/12.

Snow buries parts of Northeast as storm sweeps in

More than 2,000 flights have been canceled, and more than 200,000 customers are without power in several southern states as the impact of severe winter weather was felt across the nation. NBC's Eric Fisher reports.

By Tracy Connor and Alastair Jamieson, NBC News

A winter storm?swept into the Northeast on Thursday, bringing up to 21 inches of snow, drenching rain ? and a new round of travel headaches.

By late afternoon, more than 1,000 flights had been canceled, and more than 8,000 were delayed, according to FlightStats.com,?frustrating thousands of stranded passengers.

At Philadelphia International Airport, assistant principal Tomorrow Jenkins was desperate to get to Orlando, Fla., where her high school?s band was slated to perform at a Rutgers University bowl game Friday.

Her flight had been delayed and canceled, and she missed a connection. ?I?m a little anxious,? she told NBCPhiladelphia.com at the airport, where dozens of flights were scrapped on Thursday.

Passengers on a Southwest Airlines jet bound for Florida from Long Island faced an unexpected wait after the Boeing 737 went off the runway and got stuck in the grass. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters said officials were investigating if wet weather was a factor in the mishap, which caused no injuries.

An American Airlines flight that landed safely in Pittsburgh on?Wednesday night got stuck in snow for about two hours on the tarmac, The Associated Press reported.?

The Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, where all flights had been grounded until Wednesday afternoon after the storm passed, still had two dozen cancellations on the board.

It won't be a blockbuster snowfall, but most of the big cities in the Northeast will get one to three inches of snow. The Weather Channel's Chris Warren reports.

A passenger who had been stuck on a plane at the gate there for three hours on Christmas night recorded an American Airlines pilot apologizing for the situation.

?I've made more personal phone calls than I know what to do with,? the pilot said in an audio recording obtained by WFAA-TV.

?I've spent my last quarter, to be honest with you. It's beyond reproach. I have no words to tell you... to tell you how sorry I am. This is way above our heads... by people that obviously, in my humble opinion, don't have a clue what they're doing,? said the pilot.

The airline said in a statement that it "was obviously a very challenging day" and apologized for any inconvenience.

The weather system, which developed just before Christmas, has already spawned twisters, high winds, icy roads, and record snowfall in the nation?s midsection, where it was blamed for a dozen deaths.

The Weather Channel's Eric Fisher reports from Lewiston, Maine, where snow is rapidly accumulating. The winter storm, which traveled from Texas up through the Midwest, is threatening to dump up to 2 feet of snow on parts of the Northeast.

On Thursday, it blanketed towns from Pennsylvania to Maine in white.

Woodford, Vt., got socked with 21 inches of snow -- the highest total of the storm so far. In Edwards, N.Y., 16 inches fell. Coudersport, Pa., saw 15 inches; Windsor, Mass., got 13.4 inches; and Lebanon, Maine, had a foot, the National Weather Service reported.

Where there wasn?t snow, there was rain.?In New Jersey, flooding and high winds forced the closure of parts of Brick Township, local officials told the Weather Channel's Mike Seidel.

Thursday brought mostly rain to New York City, Philadelphia and Boston, but that could change this weekend. The Weather Channel?s Tom Niziol said a new system could dump up to four inches of snow on the major Northeast cities.

The Weather Channel's?Michael Palmer and?The Associated Press contributed to this report.

On one of the busiest travel days of the year, bad weather has forced airlines to cancel or delay flights. NBC's Katy Tur reports.

Virtual women reveal more skin, regardless of body proportions

Dec. 26, 2012 ? In the virtual world of Second Life, female avatars expose substantially more skin than males, independent of their virtual body proportions, according to research published December 26 in the open access journal PLOS ONE by Matthieu Guitton and colleagues from Laval University, Canada.

The human tendency to cover up stems from climatic, environmental, physical and cultural constraints, so measuring people's propensity to reveal skin can be difficult in the real world. To study human behavior free of at least some of these constraints, the researchers analyzed how male and female avatars in the virtual, 3- dimensional world of Second Life dressed. Second Life offers users options to choose the gender, appearance and attire of their virtual avatars, and users can select clothing from several items created in this virtual world, rather than being restricted to a predefined costume.

They found that out of over 400 virtual people studied, 71% of male avatars covered between 75-100% of their skin, while only 5% of females did. In contrast, 47% of the virtual females they studied covered between 25-49% of their skin, compared to 9% of males. The amount of skin covered was independent of traditional gender-specific measures of physical attractiveness for virtual avatars, such as waist-chest ratios for females. According to the study, "These findings have implications for understanding how sex specific aspects of skin disclosure influence human social interactions in both virtual and real settings."

Guitton adds, "Virtual settings provide a unique tool to study human behavior unhindered by physical and environmental constraints. This tool enabled us to find a dramatic gender difference in the propensity to disclose naked skin."

Netflix back online after disruption | TribLIVE

Updated 5 hours ago

Netflix Inc., the world?s biggest video-streaming service, said access to its movies and television shows was restored after a disruption caused by Amazon.com Inc.?s Web storage and computing system.

Many customers in the Americas weren?t able to access online content from approximately 3:30 p.m. EDT until late Christmas Eve, according to Joris Evers, a spokesman for Netflix. The blockage was caused by issues with Amazon Web Services, a business hosted on the Internet that?s separate from the online retail store, he said.

Subscription and on-demand services are becoming an important source of revenue for Netflix, which first offered DVD rentals via mail. Streaming services made up 70 percent of sales in the third quarter. Chief Executive Officer Reed Hastings has led a push to make Los Gatos, Calif.-based Netflix available around the world, arguing people will pay for near-instant access to content online.

Improve Your Business Using These Web Marketing ... - Maynas Eric

Website marketing is a technique used by many businesses and individuals to sell their products and services. Advertising and SEO are both parts of Internet marketing that will work. Take a look at this article?s marketing advice if increasing your customer base and making more online sales sounds good to you.

A 500 error page that is kind to your users is an effective tool. This occurs when someone tries to access a page with broken code. You do not want to let users see a generic page that just says the connection was timed out. There are much better ways to inform users that you know about an issue and are trying to fix it.

Give your customers a free gift every time that they buy from your website to inspire customer loyalty. Never forget to make your customers feel special because the internet can often make them seem like anonymous customers.

TIP! Great writing goes a long way towards drawing in customers. Adjectives are nice, try to use them as much as you can.

Try letting customers subscribe to the products they are interested in. An example for this would be offering customers who buy bulk computer paper the option of getting it shipped monthly at a large discount.

Minimize the use of tools like Flash or AJAX. While the added interactivity might look nice, it does nothing to optimize your site for search engines. Only use Flash sparingly. Be sure to add plenty of navigation links and keywords to the pages the use Flash.

A small businessman may be overwhelmed by the huge Internet businesses already out there. To get ahead, frequently double-check your prices against your customers, and reset them accordingly. If all of your products are in one place, your customers will rejoice that they do not have to jump around all over the site.

TIP! Blog frequently to make good use of internet marketing. By writing a blog, you have access to another way in which to keep contact with your customers.

Your website should include customer feedback on your products and services. Savvy consumers read the comments posted by other users and use those comments to help them make decisions about purchasing certain products. This produces a sense of comfort for your customer, and ordering your product is more likely.

Financial Information

Ensure your customers are aware that their personal and financial information is secure on your site. Many shoppers feel anxious about sharing their personal or financial information online, so make your customers feel at ease by reminding them that their info is secure.

TIP! Internet marketing can have areas that are different from regular markets. For example, search engines may decide not to focus on title tags in the future.

If your site sells physical products, develop a partnership with someone who writes. If you are a writer, get into business with someone who is a seller. You can also offer discounted writing services, provided by your partner, to your web customers.

Load your site with information that is full and new. The content should attract search engine attention as well as offer content that your audience appreciates.

Direct a certain percentage of profits to a charity. Clearly advertise this to the visitors, but don?t do it excessively. A small part of your profit will go to the charity and your number of sales will probably increase.

TIP! Monitor the vocabulary within online conversations about your brand and incorporate them into your future internet marketing strategies. If you use familiar vocabulary, people will be more likely to reach out to you and feel comfortable about it.

Internet marketing serves the ultimate purpose of problem recognition and solution. Give yourself a list of questions to answer every day. If you help other people with their issues, then they will purchase your products and tell others about it, that is what you want.

If your site sells products, having security is important. There are a number of great services you can use. VeriSign and McAffee are two such services. Although security systems do cost money, they are a necessity.

You must take advantage of every tool at your disposal to be successful in Web marketing. If you fall behind the technology, your clients may doubt your abilities. Make sure that you are updated on new technologies, and your customers will respect your products and the decisions that you make.

TIP! Joining forces with a charity can help your business, increase your visibility and help the charity also. Make sure you target a relevant charity that your customer base will want to support.

These days, people are very leery of advertising. This is due to the fact that many people have been exposed to numerous instances of false advertising. Because of this, you have to show proof of what you claim on your website. Examples of this include testimonials, before-and-after photographs, and test reports. Don?t make any claims that you can?t back up. Don?t mistake your customers for naive or ill-informed people. Don?t take advantage of your potential or current customers. Establish a good reputation, reward your best customers and let everyone know you appreciate their interest.

Address any complaints personally. You may think it is easier to have someone else do it and want to contract an outside company for the work, but you should do this yourself. If an unsatisfied customer emails you about a purchase gone wrong, personally reply to the email, and try to help them out.

If you are looking to improve your SEO and the amount of traffic your site sees, you must be sure to provide content that is unique. Unique content will set you apart from your competitors. Writing your own product descriptions and including appropriate keywords can help you blow past your competition.

TIP! Consider creating a glossary if you want your readers to consider you an expert in your field. This will be immensely helpful for prospective customers, actual customers and competitors alike.

Video marketing is a wonderful way to advertise your business. Putting a video to a blog or site can attract and keep customers interested in your products. Name your video something clever, and make it unique.

Website Marketing

In conclusion, many businesses use Internet promotion to sell products and services. Website marketing uses methods such as search engine optimization and advertising to generate sales interest. If you remember the advice in this article, you can use Website marketing to seriously boost interest in your own products and services.

TIP! Find directories that list free stuff and send them your free materials to list. Send any free e-zines to specialized directories that offer these services online.

Mitt's son says he never wanted to be president anyway

If you thought the tale of how Mitt Romney lost the general election was already told, you would be wrong. Because there is so much left to tell, like how Mitt never wanted to be President anyway.?

RELATED: Tagg Romney Wanted to Punch Obama at the Debate

At least, that's what Tagg Romney says in this new Boston Globe report on what went wrong with Romney's campaign. While the rest of the piece seems to say the problems lay in the Romney campaign's lack of technical advantage, and refusal to introduce the world to Mitt Romney, the human being, this little morsel from the Republican's son points to a larger problem:

?He wanted to be president less than anyone I?ve met in my life. He had no desire to .?.?. run,? said Tagg, who worked with his mother, Ann, to persuade his father to seek the presidency. ?If he could have found someone else to take his place .?.?. he would have been ecstatic to step aside.?

So, yeah, that might explain why Mitt lost. Not wanting the job you need to publicly campaign for more than a year to get is step one in the "Not Getting Elected Guide for Dummies" book. Again, the rest of the mammoth piece, which you really should read, paints a larger picture of the struggle between Mitt's inner circle and his campaign advisors over whether they should humanize Mitt, which was ultimately their downfall. And, also, the Obama campaign had more staff and cooler tech stuff, like an app named Gordon,?"after the person who punched Houdini in the stomach shortly before the magician died," and Narwhal, named after the Internet's favorite arctic whale. ?

Mitt never stood a chance against Narwhal.?

Tips for Holiday Motorists

This holiday season, millions of Americans will pile into their vehicles and travel considerable distances to visit family and friends.? With recent weather projections predicting snow the next few weeks, Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman has issued a consumer alert, providing tips to help consumers stay safe and insured on Minnesota roads this winter.

?The holiday season adds a layer of risk for those driving through hazardous road conditions,? said Commissioner Rothman.? ?Minnesotans are less likely to stay home following a snow or ice storm and long distances can often place drivers on unfamiliar roads. Staying safe and protected is not entirely a game of chance, however.? I encourage all drivers to follow these simple tips to make sure their insurance policy and their car are ready for the winter conditions.?

The Department of Commerce produced the following guide to help holiday drivers reach their destination safely and to help maximize their insurance protection.? Consumers are also encouraged to visit the?Minnesota Department of Commerce website?for information about how to file an insurance claim if an accident does occur.

?

TOP FIVE AUTO INSURANCE TIPS

  • Check Your Auto Insurance. Confirm your car insurance is active and premiums are up-to-date. Have a current copy of your insurance card in the car.
  • ?Have Appropriate Liability Limits. Select liability limits that are appropriate to your financial circumstances. If you are found to be at-fault in an accident and purchased insufficient limits, your personal assets may be at risk for the remaining financial obligation.
  • Are You Covered for Theft???It is important to verify if your homeowners or renters insurance covers the theft of personal items from a car, especially if you are transporting expensive items in your car. According to an April 2011 survey released by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), 40 percent of Americans incorrectly believe their car insurance will cover the replacement of personal items stolen from their vehicle. The truth is that these items must be covered by your homeowners or renters insurance policy to be reimbursed if they are stolen or damaged.
  • ?Roadside Assistance. Check to see if your policy includes roadside assistance. You can be covered for towing, fuel delivery, lockout service, jump-starts and more.
  • ?Check Your Rental Policy. If renting a car for a trip, check your policy to see if it includes coverage. Verify potential coverage limitations with your agent, and make sure you are not duplicating benefits from your existing auto, health or home insurance policy. According to the NAIC, one-third of Americans believe their auto insurance automatically covers a rental car. However, this is not true, and the Commerce Department recommends checking with your auto insurance agent to make sure you have adequate car insurance whether driving your own car or a rental.

?

CAR SAFETY AND WINTER TIPS

To avoid car troubles, schedule regular tune-ups and oil changes. If you are going on a trip to visit family this holiday season, make sure to get your car checked out in advance. If you want to do some basic maintenance yourself, here are a few simple things you can do to ensure your car is ready for winter driving.

?

  • Maintain Visibility. If your car?s wipers leave streaks of water behind, or if the rubber on the wiper blade shows signs of stiffness or cracking, get a new set of wipers. Don?t use the wipers to remove ice from the windshield ? keep an ice scraper on hand. If it?s going to snow the next day and your vehicle is parked outside, put the wipers into the raised position to keep them from freezing to the windshield.
  • ?Maintain Hoses and Belts. You can check hoses on a cool engine by pinching them. There should be no soft spots or bulging areas. Feel for lengthwise cracks in the inner liner of the hoses. Check all belts for worn spots, cracks or shredding fabric reinforcement.
  • ?Check Other Vital Fluids. This includes fluids for the engine, coolant, transmission, brakes, power steering and windshield washers.
  • ?Use the Right Oil. Engine oil will thicken when it?s cold, making it harder on the engine. Always check the owner?s manual for the manufacturer?s recommendation, but generally speaking, you should use a multi-viscosity oil that has a W as part of the viscosity index. This means it?s formulated for winter use.
  • ?Prep the Battery. For maintenance-free batteries, check the window on top to see if it?s fully charged. If it?s not, have it professionally tested. For conventional batteries, remove the plastic caps on top of the battery and check the fluid level. If it?s low, add distilled water. Make sure battery cables are securely attached to the terminals. If your battery is more than five years old, consider replacing it.
  • ?Check the Brakes. If your car pulls to one side when you brake, or if you hear any grinding noises or feel unusual vibrations when you apply the brakes, take the vehicle to a mechanic.
  • ?Make Sure You Have Appropriate Tires. Partially worn tires reduce your ability to stop or get going in snowy driving conditions. Winter tires have tread patterns and compounds that are specifically designed to grip snow and ice for good traction on slippery roads.
  • ?Pack an Emergency Kit. It should include a flashlight, flares or reflective triangle, a distress sign, first aid supplies, basic tools, blankets, water, and a fully charged cell phone. If you have roadside assistance, store the number in a handy location.

HOUSTON (AP) ? The Houston Texans slowed down Adrian Peterson. The same couldn't be said for how they handled the rest of the Minnesota Vikings.

Peterson rushed for 86 yards, falling far short of the 2,000-yard mark, yet helping the Vikings (9-6) keep their playoff hopes alive with a 23-6 upset of the Texans on Sunday.

Christian Ponder threw a touchdown pass, Toby Gerhart added a score and Blair Walsh kicked three field goals.

The loss kept the Texans (12-3) from clinching home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. They could still secure a first-round bye if Denver loses later Sunday.

Peterson had his lowest rushing total since getting 79 yards on Oct. 14 in a loss at Washington, breaking a streak of eight 100-yard games. He has 1,898 this season and needs 208 yards to break the NFL single-season rushing record held by Eric Dickerson.

The Vikings took a 10-3 lead when Walsh kicked a 56-yard field goal. The kick gave Walsh, a rookie, the NFL record with nine field goals of 50 yards or longer this season.

The Texans failed to score a touchdown for the first time since 2006.

J.J. Watt had a sack to leave him with 20 1/2 this season.

Houston got within 10 points before Gerhart's 3-yard run extended the lead to 23-6 with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter. That drive was helped by a 29-yard run by Ponder.

Ponder was 16 of 30 for 174 yards to help the Vikings pile up 345 yards. He finished with seven rushes for 48 yards ? 14 more yards rushing than the Texans had. Arian Foster had 10 rushes for 15 yards before leaving with about nine minutes left in the third quarter with an irregular heartbeat. Coach Gary Kubiak said he is OK, but he was taken out as a precaution.

Ben Tate took over and didn't fare much better with four carries for 17 yards.

The Texans were foiled by their inability to convert third downs, going 1 of 11. Quarterback Matt Schaub went 18 of 32 for 178 yards.

Houston got to the Minnesota 1 with a 12-yard reception by Kevin Walter late in the third quarter. Then came an incomplete pass followed by a run for no gain by Tate. Schaub was sacked by Fred Evans for a loss of 14 yards to make the Texans settle for a 33-yard field to cut the lead to 16-6.

Houston had to punt on its first possession of the third quarter, but got the ball right back when Watt sacked Ponder and forced a fumble. Bradie James recovered, but the Texans couldn't take advantage of the miscue and had to punt again.

The Vikings extended their lead to 16-3 when Walsh made a 39-yard field goal on the first drive of the second half. That series was helped when Ponder found Jarius Wright on a 15-yard reception, and the Vikings got 15 more yards when Whitney Mercilus was flagged for unnecessary roughness on Ponder.

Houston was on the Minnesota 28 early in the second quarter when Jasper Brinkley forced Foster's fumble, which was recovered by A.J. Jefferson.

Houston had to punt later in the second quarter when Schaub was sacked for a 9-yard loss. A 41-yard field goal by Walsh left Minnesota up 13-3 at halftime.

Peterson ran for 20 yards to get Minnesota's offense going. The Vikings took a 7-3 lead when Kyle Rudolph grabbed a 3-yard touchdown reception. Rudolph also had a 27-yard catch that drive.

Houston's Andre Johnson had seven receptions for 97 yards.

Gerhart finished with eight carries for 31 yards.

Home Improvements | Home Remodeling Advice

If the purpose of your home improvement project is to help sell the house, you should keep in mind that simple cosmetic changes are often more effective than installing new complex systems. For example, while a floor heating system might be a very cool feature, a simple paint job is more effective. A paint job makes the house look fresh and attractive to all potential buyers, whereas a floor heating system is just a neat add-on and not a selling point.

If you have watercolor paintings hanging in your home, try to place them where they do not receive direct sunlight. The sun, or any bright light, will cause the colors to fade over time. Your treasured paintings may lose their vibrancy?and value. Keeping them out of the sunlight will help preserve their colors.

Just because you bought a book on your home improvement or saw a show that highlighted how to do it doesn?t mean you?re an expert. If this is your first time completing a project like this you should expect additional costs and a longer time frame than someone you hire might take.

Do not overlook common household objects for solving organizational or storage problems in your home. You can make a coat rack from a board and some old cupboard knobs, for instance, and you can use baby food jars for storing small fasteners and pieces of hardware. Not only does this help you to get organized, but you are saving money and recycling, too.

Replacing lights is an important task when making home improvements. Most people notice the lighting of a room when they walk into it. The type of lighting needed depends on the room. For instance, dining rooms and living rooms benefit from chandeliers because it gives the room a relaxing feeling.

Is your home getting to hot in the day or is your home too bright for your liking? If so, you should try tinting the windows in your home. This is a fairly easy process that most people can do on their own. Additionally, tinting your windows saves a lot on your cooling bill.

There are many tutorials that can be found on any type of home improvement, probably more than you could possible imagine. Whether you find these tutorials online, in books, or from a friend, it is a great help to review these before and during the home improvement process. If you do not have the knowledge you need, you could be stuck with not very functional work.

These tips will help empower you to do your own repairs, replace what needs replacing, or remodel any room in the house, if you so choose. Having an amazing home doesn?t have to be something you leave to other people, and by following tips like these, you?ll get more skilled and more capable at making all the home improvements you dream of making.

One way to vastly improve your home is with an extension. Extensions come in many shape and sizes but the most popular are the kitchen extensions and strangely the porch conversion.

Car thieves offer a reprieve on Christmas Day

7 hrs.

The holidays may be a time to spread joy, but be careful not to let a car thief sour your good cheer.

A new study ranks the final week of the year as one of the riskiest when it comes to getting your car stolen. But the good news is that even the bad guys seem to take a break on Christmas Day.

Among 11 major holidays (OK, an even dozen if you include Groundhog Day), the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICD) reveals Christmas landed last in terms of the total number of vehicles stolen in the U.S. in 2011, at 1,347.?

In fact, Christmas had the lowest rate of car theft of any day in 2011, holiday or not.? Groundhog Day, at 1,491, was second-lowest holiday.

Apparently, all those tricksters were helping themselves to some expensive treats on Halloween, which ranked No. 1 on the list with 2,328 vehicles stolen.

Close behind, however, was New Year?s Day, at 2,286, followed by Memorial Day, at 2,005, and Labor Day, at 1,977.

But the study can be a bit misleading.? Fifth on the list is New Year?s Eve, with 1,947 stolen vehicles.? So, if you consider the build-up to the dropping ball and the day of hangovers to follow as one continuous holiday, suddenly New Year?s takes the lead by a wide margin, at 4,233.

And, by the same logic, Christmas suddenly becomes a much less?bucolic holiday.? The folks at the NICD rank Christmas Eve ninth among the 11 major holidays, with a reported 1,797 vehicles stolen in 2011. ?If you combine them together, the total suddenly jumps to 3,144, just behind New Year?s.

Why might there be more thefts on Christmas Eve? ?It may be that thieves?expect to find more gifts in the cars they steal as folks head over to visit family and friends ? or race to buy last-minute gifts.

?Although the nation has enjoyed declining vehicle thefts for eight consecutive years, the risk from vehicle theft is still very real. There is always a black market for items obtained by theft, and vehicles remain popular theft targets,? says the new holiday report.

How do the holidays stack up from a theft perspective? Here?s the list:

1. Halloween (2,328)

2. New Year?s Day (2,286)

3. Memorial Day (2,005)

4. Labor Day (1,977)

5. New Year?s Eve (1,947)

6. Valentine?s Day (1,895)

7. Independence Day (1,862)

8. President?s Day (1,830)

9. Christmas Eve (1,797)

10. Thanksgiving (1,526)?

11. Groundhog Day (1,491)?

12. Christmas Day (1,347)

Highlights from Egypt's draft constitution

CAIRO (AP) ? Egypt's draft constitution, which is being voted on in a referendum Saturday, is made up of an introduction, an 11-part preamble and 236 articles. Critics have raised concerns over issues including Islamic law and women's rights:

? Shariah (Islamic) law

Like a previous constitution, the draft states, "Principles of Islamic Shariah are the principal source of legislation." For the first time, the draft defines those principles, rooting them in "general evidence, foundational rules" and other rules from the long tradition of Islamic jurisprudence. Both critics and ultraconservative supporters of the charter say that opens the doors for stricter imposition of Islamic law.

? Role of clerics

The draft gives Islamic clerics unprecedented powers with an article stating, "Al-Azhar senior scholars are to be consulted in matters pertaining to Islamic law," referring to the most respected center of scholarship and rulings in Sunni Islam.

? Morals

An article commits "the state and society" to "entrenching and protecting the moral values" of "the authentic Egyptian family." Critics worry the broad phrasing will allow not only the government but also individuals to intervene in personal rights.

?Women's rights

The draft mentions women in the framework of the traditional Muslim family, adding, "The state shall ensure maternal and child health services free of charge and ensure reconciliation between the duties of a woman toward her family and her work." The preamble underlines equality "for all citizens, men and women, without discrimination or nepotism or preferential treatment, in both rights and duties." But opponents charge that the document does not protect women from discrimination.

? Civil rights

The draft guarantees freedom of expression, creativity, assembly and other rights. It also has a direct ban on torture and stricter provisions limiting detentions and searches by police. But it says the rights "must be practiced in a manner not conflicting with" principles of Shariah or the morals of the family. There is also a ban on insulting "religious messengers and prophets," opening the door to arrests of bloggers and other activists.

? News media

Independent publications closed for a day to protest the lack of an article banning arrest of journalists for what they write. The draft has this: "Freedom of the press, printing, publication and mass media shall be guaranteed. The media shall be free and independent..."

?Religious minorities

The draft guarantees the freedom of Christians and Jews to practice their rites, live by their religions' rule on marriage, inheritance and personal status and establish places of worship. But it hedges those rights on the condition they do not "violate public order" and that they will be "regulated by law." In the past, the building of churches has been limited by law because of claims it disturbs public order. The draft guarantees those rights for "the divine religions," meaning Christianity and Judaism, but not others, raising concerns of persecution of smaller sects.

? Military

The charter ensures an independent status for the powerful military. The president is the head of the national security council, but the defense minister is the commander in chief of the armed forces and "appointed from among its officers." Control of the military budget is not mentioned. It also allows civilians to be tried before military courts in some cases.
